Among other changes, the app will no longer suspend a user if he/she fails to comply with the terms of service of the app. Late last week, the terms of service and privacy policy of Aarogya Setu too were changed. “The app exchanges anonymous device ID and the data resides on the phone itself,” he added. He stressed that the Aarogya Setu app is entirely based on the self assessment of users and that no phone number or patient name is stored or shared with anyone. “Going forward, the source code for iOS and KaiOS apps would be released as well,” he said. Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) secretary Ajay Prakash Sawhney said during a press conference that 98% users of Aarogya Setu are on Android and thus, the source code for the Android app is being released first. The Aarogya Setu app is also available on iOS, KaiOS (for JioPhone) and even in the IVRS form, which enables feature phone and landline users to register on the platform. The app has been officially developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under guidance of NIC. The source code of iOS version of the app will be released within the next two weeks along with the server code.
